Mathematical Modeling and Optimization for Sustainable Operations in the Era of Industry 5.0

The transition toward Industry 5.0 has intensified the need for sustainable, resilient, and human-centric operational systems. Organizations are increasingly expected to balance productivity, technological innovation, and environmental responsibility while addressing growing uncertainties, resource constraints, regulatory requirements, and sustainability objectives. Mathematical modeling and optimization have emerged as essential tools for designing, analyzing, and improving sustainable operations across diverse industrial and service environments.

This Special Issue focuses on innovative mathematical models, optimization methodologies, computational techniques, and intelligent decision-support systems that contribute to sustainable operations in the era of Industry 5.0. The issue aims to bring together researchers, academicians, industry practitioners, and policymakers working at the intersection of mathematical sciences, management sciences, sustainability, and advanced digital technologies. The objective is to promote research that supports efficient resource utilization, sustainable decision-making, operational resilience, and long-term environmental and societal well-being.

The Special Issue welcomes contributions that advance theoretical understanding, methodological development, computational innovation, and practical implementation of sustainable operational systems. Particular emphasis is placed on mathematical modeling, optimization techniques, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational intelligence, data analytics, digital twins, blockchain technologies, the Internet of Things (IoT), and sustainability-oriented decision-making frameworks.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Sustainable Supply Chain Modeling
  • Mathematical Modeling and Optimization Techniques
  • Industry 5.0 and Smart Supply Chains
  • Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics for Supply Chain Decision-Making
  • Mathematical Models for Green Logistics and Transportation
  • Quantitative Approaches to Sustainability and Environmental Management
  • Mathematical Methods for Sustainable and Resilient Operations
  • Computational Methods for Uncertainty and Intelligent Decision-Making
  • Predictive Analytics and Data-Driven Management Strategies
  • Applications of Mathematical Sciences to Sustainable Supply Chain Systems

The Special Issue encourages interdisciplinary research and welcomes theoretical, computational, empirical, and application-oriented studies that provide innovative methodologies, practical insights, industrial applications, and policy implications for advancing sustainable operations in the era of Industry 5.0. Contributions that demonstrate the integration of mathematical intelligence with sustainability objectives and emerging digital technologies are particularly encouraged.
