Benefits of Publishing in an Article Collection

An Article Collection is an opportunity for your research to reach the right audience. Bringing together the work of the global research community, Collections provide readers with a central place to find the latest research on emerging and important topics. They have been found to increase the discoverability and visibility of each article, as well as article-level citations.

Intravitreal Injection of Long-Acting Anti-VEGF Agents in Retinal Disorders: Efficacy, Safety, and Future Perspectives

Intravitreal anti-VEGF therapy has revolutionized the management of a wide range of retinal diseases, including neovascular age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, and retinal vein occlusion. Despite the remarkable visual and anatomical outcomes achieved with conventional anti-VEGF agents, the need for frequent injections and regular follow up remains a significant challenge for both patients and healthcare systems. Recent advances have led to the development of long-acting anti-VEGF therapies designed to provide sustained disease control while reducing treatment burden.

The emergence of long-acting anti-VEGF agents represents an important step towards improving patient adherence, optimizing visual outcomes, and enhancing the efficiency of retinal care. These therapies have the potential to extend treatment intervals, reduce clinic visits, and address the unmet needs of patients requiring chronic management. As new therapeutic platforms continue to evolve, a comprehensive understanding of their efficacy, safety profiles, and real-world performance is essential for evidence-based clinical decision making.

This Article Collection welcomes original research articles, reviews, systematic reviews, commentaries, clinical trial reports, and protocols addressing long-acting anti-VEGF therapies in retinal diseases. Meta-analyses are welcome, but require a pre-submission check.

Topics of interest include:

  • Treatment efficacy
  • Durability
  • Safety outcomes
  • Comparative effectiveness
  • Patient-reported outcomes
  • Treatment adherence
  • Emerging drug delivery systems
  • Sustained-release technologies
  • Gene-based approaches
  • Future innovations in retinal therapeutics

Contributions exploring challenges, opportunities, and evolving clinical applications are particularly encouraged.
