Benefits of Publishing in an Article Collection
An Article Collection is an opportunity for your research to reach the right audience. Bringing together the work of the global research community, Collections provide readers with a central place to find the latest research on emerging and important topics. They have been found to increase the discoverability and visibility of each article, as well as article-level citations.
Human Microbiome and Vaccine Efficacy
Human Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics is pleased to welcome you to submit your research to the Article Collection "Human Microbiome and Vaccine Efficacy".
This Article Collection focuses on examining the influence of the human microbiome on vaccine safety and efficacy. Recent research indicates that the composition of microflora in diverse human tissues is influenced by factors including age, ethnicity, environment, lifestyle, diet, and health status. To move the science of vaccinology forward, we need to understand these differences.
The purpose of this Article Collection is to broaden scientific understanding of the microbiome and its influencing factors in relation to immune response enhancement and vaccine efficacy. Contributions would address existing gaps in understanding of vaccine safety and efficacy and propose strategies to optimize immunization against vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs).
This Collection also aims to spotlight the methodological and practical challenges involved in linking the microbiome to vaccine outcomes. We welcome research that proposes robust, scientifically sound approaches to studying these relationships and that demonstrates the potential for impactful, applicable results.
Furthermore, the Collection covers key topics as they relate to vaccine outcomes, including:
- The gut microbiome and immune modulation associated with vaccine outcomes
- Immunometabolism changes following vaccine administration
- The role of the gut-brain axis in vaccine efficacy
- The role of nutrition and pharmaceuticals, including the use of probiotics, and how these influence vaccine uptake
- Environmental and infectious disease exposures
- Bioinformatics studies that seek to understand the effect the microbiome has on vaccination
By examining these aspects, we seek to clarify how these factors influence the microbiome and, consequently, human health outcomes following vaccination.
