Benefits of Publishing in an Article Collection
An Article Collection is an opportunity for your research to reach the right audience. Bringing together the work of the global research community, Collections provide readers with a central place to find the latest research on emerging and important topics. They have been found to increase the discoverability and visibility of each article, as well as article-level citations.
Clean Energy Transition and Resource-Material Efficiency: Targeting SDGs 7, 12, and 13
The global challenge of achieving SDGs 7 and 12 remains one of humanity's most pressing concerns. SDGs 7 and 12 respectively aim to ‘ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all’ and ‘ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.’ The key targets include carbon mitigation, promoting energy clean energy access, resources and material efficiency, etc, which are aligned with Carbon Management's scope. These priorities are also closely linked to SDG 13, as clean energy transition and more efficient use of materials and resources are essential components of climate-change mitigation and the broader decarbonization of economic systems.
Targeting SDG 7 and SDG 12 is critical because they are foundational to the activities that engineer sustainable development while safeguarding the planet. Particularly, these SDGs are important because they (i) promote green growth through decoupling overall economic growth from environmental degradation. While SDG 7 encourages clean energy access and security, SDG 12 on the other hand accelerates circular activities through resource and material optimization; (ii) drive systemic decarbonization since the two aspects are critical for economic-wide ecosystems; (iii) help to mitigate resource-induced geopolitical risks given that reliance on conventional resources for economic-wide activities such as fossil fuel sources are minimized by clean and renewable energy development; and (iv) enhance human health, biodiversity, and vegetation protection through preventing over-exploitation of ecosystem resources and environmental degradation.
To accelerate the achievement of these targets, Carbon Management welcomes submissions for an Article Collection focused on innovative research that addresses SDGs 7 and 12 challenges with a particular emphasis on clean energy access and security, and sustainable consumption and production. For this Article Collection, we welcome interdisciplinary scientific studies that further advance knowledge on how clean energy transitions, resource-efficient production, sustainable consumption, and climate mitigation jointly accelerate progress toward SDGs 7, 12 and 13.
Considering the theme of the call -- which addresses related challenges in business, industrial, household, and other economic activities -- contributions may address emerging technologies, energy efficiency, circular economy, sustainable production and consumption, carbon reduction, clean energy security, energy poverty, climate policy, life-cycle assessment (LCA), and innovative pathways toward low-carbon and resource-efficient economies.
Carbon Management accepts the following types of article: Original Research Paper, Short Communication, Case Studies, Review Articles, Policy Briefs/Opinion Pieces/Commentaries, Book Reviews, Conference Reports, Letter to the Editor, Data Notes, Method.
Keywords:
- Clean energy
- Energy transition
- Material and resource efficiency
- Consumption and production patterns

Prof. Andrew Adewale Alola (PhD) earned a PhD degree in Economics and MSc in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, both from Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Cyprus. Before that, he completed his undergraduate studies from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Dr Andrew joined CREDS-Centre for Research on Digitalization and Sustainability at Inland School of Business and Social Sciences, University of Inland Norway in 2022. Earlier, he worked at the Department of Economics, University of Vaasa in Finland as an Assistant Professor. He was previously a full-time Faculty at Istanbul Gelisim University where he lectured in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs and later at Istanbul Nişantaşı University, both in Turkey. Also, Dr. Andrew had research collaboration activities with University of Johannesburg (South Africa), South Ural State University (Russia), Lebanese American University (Lebanon), Applied Science University (Jordan), and on World Bank project with Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (nowJoseph Sarwuan Tarka University), Nigeria.
Dr. Agnieszka Woźniak is Vice-Rector for Development at the State University of Applied Sciences in Krosno, Poland, and a researcher at the Department of Production and Environmental Engineering. She holds a PhD in Technical Sciences. Her research interests include renewable energy transition, wind energy, industrial decarbonisation, energy and resource efficiency, and the interconnections between renewable energy development and the Sustainable Development Goals. Her research in wind energy focuses particularly on wind-resource assessment, vertical wind structure and wind shear, and their implications for turbine selection and energy yield. Her work combines engineering, environmental, and sustainability perspectives with quantitative methods to analyse energy-transition pathways, cleaner production, and the environmental performance of industrial and economic systems.
