Benefits of Publishing in an Article Collection
An Article Collection is an opportunity for your research to reach the right audience. Bringing together the work of the global research community, Collections provide readers with a central place to find the latest research on emerging and important topics. They have been found to increase the discoverability and visibility of each article, as well as article-level citations.
Nutrition and Inflammation in Gastrointestinal Diseases: From Mechanisms to Clinical Applications
The Journal of Inflammation Research is pleased to welcome you to submit your research to the Article Collection "Nutrition and Inflammation in Gastrointestinal Diseases: From Mechanisms to Clinical Applications".
Nutrition plays a significant role in regulating inflammatory processes in the body. This relationship is complex and involves interactions between dietary factors, metabolism, the gut microbiota, and the immune response. Nutrients can modulate the course of disease processes. At the same time, inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract can significantly affect food intake, digestion, and nutrient absorption. This bidirectional relationship is relevant in many inflammatory diseases.
Understanding the impact of nutrition on inflammatory processes is crucial for improving the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. Nutritional factors and nutritional status can influence inflammatory mediators, the integrity of the intestinal barrier, the gut microbiome, immune responses, and metabolic pathways. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying these interactions are not yet fully understood, and translating the results of mechanistic studies into effective clinical strategies remains a challenge. Growing interest in precision nutrition, personalized dietary approaches, strategies targeting the gut microbiome, and nutritional biomarkers presents opportunities to optimize patient care. A better understanding of the “nutrition–inflammation” axis may contribute to the development of new preventive and therapeutic methods.
This Collection welcomes multidisciplinary studies focused on analyzing the interactions between dietary factors and inflammatory pathways in gastrointestinal diseases and related metabolic disorders. Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Dietary patterns and nutritional interventions
- Nutritional status and malnutrition
- Intestinal barrier integrity
- The gut microbiota and its metabolites
- Immune signaling
- Nutrigenomics and epigenetic regulation
- Precision and personalized nutrition
Keywords: Nutrition; Inflammation; Gastrointestinal Disease; Gut Microbiota; Precision Nutrition
