Benefits of Publishing in an Article Collection
An Article Collection is an opportunity for your research to reach the right audience. Bringing together the work of the global research community, Collections provide readers with a central place to find the latest research on emerging and important topics. They have been found to increase the discoverability and visibility of each article, as well as article-level citations.
Yeast Synthetic Biology
For thousands of years, we have domesticated yeasts to alter the chemical compositions of food and biomass for our benefit. The future of this relationship involves the using the tools of synthetic biology to further engineer these organisms to expand their utility.
Yeasts including model and non-model have the potential to serve as chemical factories for high-value compounds including biofuels, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, fragrances, additives, and pigments. This will require synthetic biology and metabolic engineering including integrating standardized biobricks, and implementing advanced genome editing techniques, and using computational tools to help design new metabolic pathways. It will also require the performance of these microbial cell factories optimised to ensure they are robust and that they are suitable for the industries which aim to utilise them for real world use.
We accept Original Research, Methods Articles and Insights Articles on, but not limited to:
- Advanced genetic engineering technology including toolkits
- Yeast metabolisms and their engineering
- Development of microbial cell factories (for application in food, pharmaceutical, fine chemical industries)
- Optimization of process including precision fermentation
- System metabolic engineering approach (eg. genome scale metabolic model, AI-driven models, etc.)
